INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) — Former Colts defensive back Marlin Jackson played a major role during the Colts’ run to Super Bowl XLI against the Bears. In the AFC Championship game leading up to the 2006 Super Bowl, Jackson delivered the game-sealing interception off the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots, sending Indy to play Chicago two weeks later.
In that game, the Colts took down the Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI.
On the 20th anniversary of the Colts’ Super Bowl victory over the Bears, Jackson reflected on his favorite memory from that rainy game in Miami, Florida.
“My favorite memory from Super Bowl 41, comes to mind is Kelvin Hayden’s pick-six in the rain against the Chicago Bears,” Jackson said. “Kelvin and I were drafted together the previous year, and we were both able to make huge plays along that journey to Super Bowl 41 champions, and I remember Kelvin guarding Muhsin Muhammad and then trying to take a shot down the field, and Kelvin going up and intercepting the ball, not only intercepting it, but then running it back for a touchdown. Pick-six in the rain in Miami, Super Bowl 41.”
Jackson played five seasons in the NFL, all with the Indianapolis Colts. Jackson spent 2005 to 2009 in Indy, where he compiled 284 total tackles and four interceptions.
The 2027 Super Bowl is scheduled for February 14 and will air on WRTV.
