Jameis Winston threw an interception he wished he would take back during the New York Giants' primetime clash with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
Winston has been playing in the NFL since 2015, starting his second year with the Giants. He serves as the backup quarterback behind Dart, a role he embraced last season upon joining the franchise in 2025.
Winston had to come on the field for Dart, who sustained a knee injury during the first quarter of the game against Los Angeles. The veteran quarterback hopes to keep New York in competitive reach against the hosts.
However, he threw an interception in the second quarter when he tried to fire a pass into the end zone. Trent McDuffie ended up making the interception for the Rams.
How Jameis Winston, Giants played 1st half against Rams
Jameis Winston looks to shake off a rusty start for the Giants as he attempts to put the interception behind him. They trail 14-3 against the Rams, a big step back from the strong season opener they had against the Dallas Cowboys.
Los Angeles scored a touchdown in each of the two quarters. They have been able to make the most of their chances, barring a few occasional misses on offense. The defense has been stout, having comfort against Winston after Dart went down with the knee injury in the opening quarter.
Winston has only completed four out of 12 passes for 58 yards and an interception so far. Before leaving with the injury, Dart threw for 20 yards on three completions.
Cam Skattebo leads the run game with seven carries for 18 yards while catching two passes for 21 yards. Meanwhile, Darnell Mooney caught a 31-yard pass and Malachi Fields has a 14-yard reception to his name.
Following this game, the Giants will prepare for their next matchup in Week 3. They will be at home when they host the Tennessee Titans as kickoff commences on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
