**Liverpool have gone into the international break with some much-needed momentum, but who have been their standout performers so far this season?**
The Reds secured a vital 1-0 win at Bournemouth last weekend, meaning they are still undefeated in their opening five Premier League matches in 2026/27.
Liverpool may not always have been at their vibrant best yet, with attacking players still waiting to fire, but it has been a positive start to life under Andoni Iraola overall.
Here’s how we have ranked the Reds’ five best players in 2026/27 to date – Cody Gakpo can feel unlucky not to make it, but he has been impressive.
**5\. Alisson**
---------------
Alisson has looked locked in since August, following an injury-plagued campaign last time around where he struggled to find much rhythm.
The Brazilian has brought his usual calm between the sticks, claiming high balls and spreading confidence, and his save against Bournemouth was up there with the best of his Liverpool career.
What a massive bonus it is that Alisson didn’t leave in the summer – he remains an irreplaceable figure for Liverpool.
**4\. Ronald Araujo**
---------------------
Liverpool have a new cult hero, and his name is Ronald ‘Big Ron’ Araujo!
The on-loan Barcelona man has made a world of difference since slotting in at right-back, bringing physicality, aggression and leadership to the role in place of Jeremie Frimpong.
Araujo may have some erratic performances in him as the season goes on, but on current evidence, a permanent move next summer makes total sense.
**3\. Alexis Mac Allister**
---------------------------
After a dire 2025/26 season by his high standards, Alexis Mac Allister has been the pick of Liverpool’s midfielders.
His comments about a new contract showed how hurt he has been, but he has responded like the winner he is, scoring superb goals against Atletico Madrid and Tottenham.
Mac Allister’s lack of pace remains a slight issue in an unbalanced Liverpool midfield, but he has been a huge influence in the opening weeks of the campaign, knitting things together nicely.
**2\. Virgil van Dijk**
------------------------
The problem with Virgil van Dijk is that you take him for granted now, with great performances simply par for the course.
If the skipper wasn’t at his absolute best in the 2-2 draws with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, he has been magnificent since, inspiring the Reds to three clean sheets in a row in the league.
Like Alisson, he is still priceless for Liverpool, and while he may not quite be the unrivalled colossus he was a few years ago, Iraola surely wouldn’t swap him for anyone in the world.
**1\. Jeremy Jacquet**
----------------------
If some new signings are yet to spark, Jeremy Jacquet has been a revelation, showing why he is considered one of the most exciting young centre-backs in world football.
He has filled the void left by compatriot Ibrahima Konate with consummate ease, looking superior to him, and it is hard to fault anything he has done.
Jacquet is a perfect foil for Van Dijk, covering endless ground, and while mistakes will happen for a player of his age, he already feels like a seasoned professional who has been a rock for Liverpool for years.
The sky is the limit.
