> The Giants have 2023 fourth-round quarterback Jake Haener on their practice squad, but he was not elevated to the 53-man roster before Monday, making him ineligible in an emergency capacity. In fact, they do not have any quarterbacks beyond Dart and Winston on their 53-man roster. If Winston is injured, the Giants will have to look to the sideline for a skill-position player to step in.

It’s part of what convinced the Giants to trade up for Dart last year in the first round of the NFL draft and what persuaded Harbaugh to choose the Giants over the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. They think with some refinement, Dart can become one of the league’s best quarterbacks, in large part because of the special throws he can make.
