The infamous “Trump Curse” has struck the NFL again after Jaxson Dart was injured in the New York Giants’ 28-6 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams on the West Coast.
The Giants headed into Monday night’s game riding the high of defeating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 under new head coach John Harbaugh. However, the Giants’ night quickly got off on a worrying note. Dart was forced out early with a left knee injury.
The second-year quarterback was hit by Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart while attempting a pass, with his knee buckling awkwardly underneath him. Initial X-rays were negative, although Dart is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain and is set for an MRI, resulting in his request to play on be rejected.
NFL veteran Jameis Winston was drafted in to try and help the Giants maintain their unbeaten start by defeating the reigning MVP, Matthew Stafford, and the Rams. However, it was a torrid night for Winston, too.
Winston threw for just 111 yards and had one interception against his name. There was another scare when Malik Nabers went down clutching his right shoulder after battling Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie for a pass late in the first quarter. The star receiver briefly left for evaluation but returned to the field in the second quarter.
Dart’s injury comes just months after he earned himself some favoritism with President Donald Trump.
Dart ruffled feathers when he introduced Donald Trump at a rally in the heart of New York's offseason, resulting in his own teammate, defensive superstar Abdul Carter, publicly calling him out.

The quarterback’s association with the President has led to some to believe that the infamous “Trump Curse” has struck again. Trump has a long history of being on the wrong side of sports predictions, and his support for some hasn’t worked out too favorably.
Trump attended Super Bowl LIX after publicly backing the Kansas City Chiefs, only for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to suffer a heavy 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. The joke resurfaced when Trump attended the Washington Commanders' game against the Detroit Lions, with Washington losing 44-22.
The supposed curse then crossed over into the NBA during the 2026 Finals. Trump attended the Knicks' Game 3 clash with the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden, where New York suffered a 115-111 defeat.
“Jaxson Dart appears to be the latest victim of the Trump curse,” one NFL fan said on social media. “Trump supporter Jaxson Dart injured. The Trump Curse is real,” another remarked.

Before the 2026 NFL season started, Trump had already locked in his Super Bowl picks. Trump named the Giants, thanks to his new pal Dart, last season’s runner-ups, the Patriots, and the Rams.
"Maybe I'll pick a few," Trump told ESPN's Laura Rutledge. "I think New England looks good. I think the Giants – I like their quarterback (Jaxson Dart) a lot. I think that, they say the L.A. Rams are looking very strong.
"But I better not get into this too much, I'm gonna get myself in trouble if I do. But I think you have a lot of good teams, a lot of great teams. And we'll see how it turns out, I'll be watching."
