It was another day to remember for Carlisle United’s Seb Mason in his latest loan outing for Stranraer.
The teenage Blues striker scored twice in a 5-1 win at Elgin City.
Mason , who had opened his account in the Blues’ previous outing against Dumbarton, added two more to his tally in the seventh and 46 th minutes.
He played 74 minutes of the Scottish League Two game as Chris Aitken’s side recorded an emphatic win to go second in the table.
Manager Aitken, in a club interview, said of 18-year-old Mason: “Big Seb, since he’s been in, has been absolutely outstanding.”
Next up for Mason and his loan club is a trip to Berwick Rangers tonight.
There was no loan action over the weekend for United’s Darlington trio of Jonah Lowes, Hayden Atkinson and Amaru Smith .
The Quakers announced that Carlisle had not given them permission to field the trio in their FA Cup second round qualifying trip to Redcar Town – although Smith was ultimately named among their substitutes, the teenage winger not making it on in the 4-2 win, in which Mark Beck was among the scorers.
The three could return to league action when Darlington host Hebburn Town in National League North next Saturday.
A host of ex-Blues were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.
Jarrad Branthwaite helped Everton to another clean sheet in the Premier League as the Toffees defeated Ipswich Town 1-0.

There was a clean sheet for James Trafford as Leeds United drew 0-0 woth Crystal Palace.
In League One, Jerry Yates was on target in Blackpool’s 4-2 defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
Jack Marriott grabbed both goals in Reading’s 2-0 win over Notts County.
And Jack Armer was on the scoresheet in Burton Albion’s 2-2 draw with Mansfield Town.

In League Two, Jordan Gibson ’s goal earned Crewe Alexandra a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town.
The National League saw Olufela Olomola on target in Wealdstone’s 2-1 defeat at Tamworth - while Hartlepool United have put coaches Gary Liddle and Adam Clayton in temporary charge after Lee Clark's resignation.
The FA Cup second round qualifying saw former United trialist Jack Young net twice in Spennymoor Town’s 4-0 win at Emley.
Two goals from Cedwyn Scott and one from Adam Campbell helped Mike Williamson ’s South Shields to a 7-0 win against Witton Albion, with Jordan Jones named man of the match.
And former United loanee Luke Skinner was on target for Weston-super-Mare in their 1-1 draw with Wimborne Town – whose general manager is a certain Jimmy Glass.

In the North West Counties League Premier Division, 42-year-old Simon Grand was on target in Charnock Richard’s 2-1 defeat to FC Isle of Man.
The League of Ireland First Division saw Sean Maguire at the double in Cork City’s 5-1 win against UCD.
Overseas, Daniel Adu-Adjei scored to help Rijeka to a 3-0 win over Hadjuk Split in Croatia's top flight.
A number of ex-Blues and others connected to United were named in international squads too.
Brunton Park academy products Jarrad Branthwaite and James Trafford are in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad along with ex-United loanee Jordan Pickford.
The England Under-20 squad, meanwhile, includes Manchester United's Jim Thwaites - son of former Carlisle player Adam .
Scotland included Lennon Miller , son of former Carlisle striker Lee , in their latest squad, while ex-Blues youth team player Ryan Carr is in the Scottish Under-21 squad along with Dan Armer , brother of former United defender Jack .
Another son of an ex-Carlisle forward, Bailey Cadamarteri – whose dad is ex-Blues man Danny – is in the latest Jamaica squad.
Brandon Comley, meanwhile, has received his latest Montserrat call-up.
