**Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall insists he will remain at St James’ Park “for a long time” if the Magpies achieve their ambitions.**
The former Chelsea defender was heavily [**linked with a move to Manchester United**](https://newcastleunitednews.org/blog/newcastle-united-transfer-news-lewis-hall-jordan/) during the summer transfer window, and when asked about his future plans, he said:
“I think when you’re at a team you don’t think too far into the future. Obviously, I’m really grateful for the contract that I’ve received and the trust that I’ve been given from the board and from the manager and everything like that.”
“But I’m just taking it game by game, just trying to do the best I can for this club. We’ve got ambitions, and as long as we achieve these ambitions and achieve what we want to achieve, I’m sure I’ll be here for a long time.”
When does Hall’s new contract expire?
-------------------------------------
The England international put pen to paper on a five-year deal earlier this month, which means he is committed to Newcastle until the summer of 2031.
If Hall does end up staying for that long, he would have spent seven seasons in the North East. Of course, the player made it clear that his continued commitment will be reliant on performances on the pitch.
What ambitions do Newcastle United have?
----------------------------------------
The first target will clearly be to return to the Champions League at the earliest possible opportunity, whilst winning trophies are also likely to be on the agenda.
Newcastle’s “Vision 2030” plan was outlined by CEO David Hopkinson who said that the Magpies should be in “the debate about being the top club in the world”.
Whether 2030 is a realistic timescale for that goal is another matter. Work is now set to start on a new training ground, but there is still a huge revenue gap to bridge with the traditional “big six” clubs, while a final decision on the stadium also has to be made.
