Heat urged to sign $349M former MVP, triple-double machine out of retirement to complete roster image
The NBA will lose some of its biggest stars over the next few years, as some of them will be entering retirement after successful careers. Future Hall of Famers like Steph Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant will all be on their way out of the league within the next five years.
It is sad to see them go, as they have made huge differences in the NBA. One name that has already retired from that group is triple-double machine Russell Westbrook.
“Sometimes you don’t even know when you’ve already watched the end. You had to be there. And now it’s over,” Westbrook posted.
His retirement was a little shocking considering everything that has happened throughout his career. Westbrook has never won an NBA championship, but he called his career a little earlier than expected. A few days before he retired, he mentioned how much he loved the game and that he still wanted to play.
“I love playing basketball. And if it happens, it works. That is my plan," Westbrook said.
Then, a few days later, he decided to call it a career. He still had some opportunities with other organizations, but he didn’t want to play for a team that wasn’t going to contend. Recently, former All-Star Zach Randolph mentioned the Miami Heat as a team he would want Westbrook to join if he unretired.
“This man was supposed to be in the league for another 3-4 years at least. I'd like to see him with the Heat. Brodie got a lot left in him. I just saw his little brother yesterday… He might be back,” Randolph said.
It would be great for the NBA if Westbrook came out of retirement to chase a championship at this point in his career. His career really didn’t seem ready to come to an end, but it did for some reason.
Westbrook has made $349 million throughout his Hall of Fame career. The former NBA MVP could give it a shot in Miami. They have a talented roster, and he would fit right in.
