Camara’s failed move to Chelsea was one of the stories of deadline day.
Seemingly bound for London, Monaco pulled the plug at the last minute. At the same time, it was reported that Liverpool told him ‘to wait’ for them until 2027.
Chelsea weren’t given an explanation for the transfer breaking down, but it certainly seems there wasn’t much encouragement from the Monaco side to pursue a place in Xabi Alonso’s team.

Teammate Denis Zakaria, who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea, said to media including Get French Football News: “Chelsea? I told him that it was good but that it is better here.
“I know the player and the person that he is. He is very professional. I think [the transfer saga] has given him even more strength. He was incredible [against Lens].”
The game in which he was “incredible” was Monaco’s 2-1 win over Lens on Friday night, a result that put les Monegasques top of Ligue 1.
Chelsea’s final bid for Camara came to £47.1 million; Liverpool would at least have to match that sum if they were to bring in the highly-rated midfielder.
