Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He has also found himself jumping from team to team far more often than the average megastar, though. Trade rumors are a part of the Durant experience, and just last year, Durant joined the Houston Rockets after being the centerpiece of the biggest trade in NBA history, a seven-team deal that shook the NBA world to its core.
Durant's first season in Houston was a rollercoaster of an experience. His team finished with 52 wins and the second seed in the Western Conference. However, when news broke of Durant talking crap about his teammates on burner accounts, trade rumors again came to the surface.
The Rockets are looking to contend this upcoming season, and luckily, it doesn't seem like The Slim Reaper has any desire to leave Houston, as of now. Ben Dubose reported that Rafael Stone said at the end of last season that he is “happy he is here.”
When Durant was initially traded to the Rockets, he made it clear that this team would be the final team that he'd play for. Despite being 37 years old, though, Durantula still has plenty left in the tank, and he has a player option on his contract for the 2027-28 season.
With Amen Thompson just extended, and Fred VanVleet poised to return from injury, the Rockets are all in on chasing a championship before their aging superstar retires. Even to this day, Durant is one of the best three-level scorers in the entire NBA, and it seems unlikely that there would be a trade out there involving Durant that would make the team better.
