The New York Giants faced off against the Los Angeles Rams in LA for a Week 2 Monday Night kickoff. The Giants were coming off a season-opening win against rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, while the Rams were looking for redemption after their Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. With expectations high for both organizations, the Rams delivered at home, beating the Giants 28-6.
Second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart left early in Monday night’s matchup with a left knee injury, leaving backup QB Jameis Winston to lead the Giants. The loss of Dart is a heavy hit for the Giants and their fan base as they looked to be off to a promising start.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport posted on the Dart injury via X, as the fate of the Giants QB department looks to be on pause.
“QB Jaxson Dart is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL based on the initial exams, sources tell me and @MikeGarafol. X-rays were negative, and the MRI is coming Tuesday. Dart is expected to miss some time, though in general, positive news,” Rapoport reported .
Another Dart injury
The news has grabbed the attention of several media outlets and player influencers, including two-time Super Bowl Champ LeSean McCoy.

“I am done promoting and backing up players that are always injured,” McCoy said Monday night on the Speakeasy podcast. “If you’re injured, pass; I don’t want nothing to do with you. Because every time we get so hyped on a team, the main player gets hurt. Now we can’t talk about it. Jaxson Dart, hell of a player. You think the moment that the Giants had going on? Good quarterback, running a good running game.”
“You talk about the attitude they show. Last time they played the Cowboys, all these things… Now they’re the team we want, the quarterback we want. And every time I look around, you are always hurt. So I think from now on, when we are talking about these players, if a player has an injured background or past, I will not want to talk about them.”
Dart has a history of injuries before and during his NFL career, which is beginning to tarnish his resume. Back in November 2025, Dart suffered a concussion, causing him to miss two games, and a meniscus tear in 2021 that cost him four games.
The setback will be another hurdle for Dart as the Giants fall 1-1 after the loss to the Rams. The MCL sprain will likely sideline the Giants’ starter as they adjust without him.
