Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles
Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles had one of the NFL’s best passing defenses, ranking eighth in yards allowed, first in touchdowns allowed, and 15th in interceptions. Notably, last year’s defensive pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Christian Parker has since departed to become the Dallas Cowboys‘ defensive coordinator.
This year, the Eagles have faced the Commanders and Titans, two teams who… do not have prolific passing offenses. They’ve held both opponents under 170 passing yards in each game. The Eagles rank fifth in passing yards allowed, sixth in touchdowns, but they’ve yet to intercept a pass. Now, an excellent secondary is getting some more help.

According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, the Eagles have signed arguably the top free agent cornerback available, signing Kenny Moore II to a one-year contract worth $3 million. Moore initially requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts this offseason before the team later cut him loose.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo adds that the former Pro Bowl cornerback drew interest from multiple teams, yet now he’ll join the Eagles, where he’s expected to play nickelback along with seeing time at safety, where the Eagles could use more help.
Moore had previously established a reputation for being one of the best nickelbacks in the NFL. Whether the 31-year-old defensive back can return to that level of play remains to be seen, but by joining an extremely talented defense, Moore’s chances of thriving in Philadelphia under Vic Fangio may be as good as any other destination.
The 10-year veteran has spent the entirety of his career playing for the Colts, racking up 649 tackles (39 TFL), 21 interceptions, 68 pass deflections, 11.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. Last season he recorded 55 tackles (three for loss), 1.5 sacks, six pass deflections, an interception, and two forced fumbles across 14 games.
