Eagles plan for recent signing of ex-Colts Pro Bowl DB revealed image
The Philadelphia Eagles made two interesting roster moves after their Week 2 comeback win over the Tennessee Titans on the road.
One was the addition of Zack Ertz, who will fill in for the injured Dallas Geodert at the tight end position. The other is the pickup of former Indianapolis Colts defensive back Kenny Moore. The former Pro Bowler is an intriguing addition for Philly.
But what is the plan with Moore? NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo revealed how the Eagles plan to use the new defensive back, as Moore is slated to play both at safety and at nickelback this season for Philadelphia.
Eagles plan for Kenny Moore revealed by NFL insider
"The plan is for Kenny Moore to play safety and nickel corner for the Eagles," Garafolo reports on the Eagles' new signing.
Moore joins the Eagles' roster to bolster the defensive backfield depth, especially as questions about the safety duo of Marcus Epps and Andrew Makuba came up after Week 2.
Getting some extra help for the defense is not a bad idea, and Moore is a ball-hawking defensive back who can be a huge help in the secondary for Philadelphia.
The 31-year-old defensive back has mainly been a cornerback during his career, but he has the traits needed to play safety at a high level.
During his career, Moore has 21 interceptions, four pick-sixes, and 68 passes defended in 132 games played since the 2017 season, all with the Colts.

Last year in 14 games, Moore had one interception (a pick-six for 32 yards), six passes defended, two forced fumbles, 1.5 sacks, and 55 total tackles.
He's a good defender in pass coverage, allowing an 89.9 passer rating when targeted during his NFL career. Moore is a very solid signing a few weeks into the season, and should provide a big help to the secondary.
The plan is for Moore to see time at safety, taking over for Epps or Makuba, or sliding into the nickel cornerback spot, taking over for Cooper DeJean, who could then be the one to take a few snaps at safety.
This roster move from the Eagles is meant to provide insurance in the secondary, while also raising the ceiling by adding a ball-hawking defensive back to a defense that could really use its first turnover of the season.
