England officially call up Liverpool player ahead of UEFA Friendship Cup 2026

England Under-18s head coach Will Antwi has named his squad for the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland during the September and October international window.

The eight-team tournament will be hosted by UEFA at its base in Nyon, with England playing Colombia on Thursday, September 24, Egypt on Sunday, September 27, and Korea Republic on Wednesday, September 30.

A fourth fixture will follow on October 3, with the opponent and kick-off time to be confirmed. Liverpool midfielder Erik Farkas has been included in Antwi’s squad.

The 17-year-old recently signed his first professional contract with Liverpool at the AXA Training Centre. Farkas has been with the Reds’ Academy since Under-12 level and currently plays for Simon Wiles’ Under-18 side.

“It’s a really proud moment for me and my family,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “I’m just grateful and blessed to achieve something big like that.”

Farkas has made three appearances this season, including a substitute appearance in the UEFA Youth League draw against Atletico Madrid, and has scored twice. Born in Hungary, Farkas has previously been capped at Under-17 level.

Midfielders: Sam Alabi (Newcastle United), Samuel Alker (Leeds United), Hugo De Lisle (Leicester City), Erik Farkas (Liverpool), Max Little (Southampton), Tyrese Noubissie (RC Strasbourg).

Forwards: Jashayde Greenwood (Chelsea), Ryan Kavuma-McQueen (Portsmouth, loan from Chelsea), Michael Mills (Newcastle United), Phoenix Offiah (Tottenham Hotspur), Reon Smith (West Ham United)**, Ajay Tavares (FC Barcelona)*, Kyran Thompson (Newcastle United).

*Replaces Jeremy Monga (Swansea City, on loan from Manchester City). **Replaces Joel Drakes-Thomas (Crystal Palace) who was initially replaced by Kahlil Steele (Norwich) before Steele withdrew through injury. ***Replaces Marli Salmon (Arsenal) who has withdrawn through injury.
