The Indiana Pacers are reportedly set to give one of their longtime veterans another opportunity ahead of the new season.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, 39-year-old forward James Johnson is returning to the Pacers on a training camp deal.
Johnson last appeared in the NBA during the 2024-25 season, when he was part of the Pacers team that reached the NBA Finals.
He appeared in 12 regular-season games and five playoff contests that year, averaging 0.7 points and 0.5 rebounds in around three minutes per game during the regular season and 1.4 points in the playoffs.
Johnson brings 16 years of NBA experience
Johnson has spent 16 seasons in the NBA after being selected with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
The veteran forward has been a true NBA journeyman, playing for 10 different teams throughout his career.
His most productive stretch came with the Miami Heat, where he spent four seasons and averaged 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists across 222 games with the franchise.
