After some initial optimism regarding star quarterback Jaxson Dart, the New York Giants are facing a potential nightmare scenario.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter provided the latest news on Dart’s injured knee on Tuesday afternoon, revealing that the injury is worse than initially thought. Initially, it was believed that Dart avoided a serious injury and was suspected of having an MCL sprain.
Now, it could be much worse.
“Further testing today revealed Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery,” Schefter reported on X. “Of all the QB injuries suffered in Week 2, Dart’s is turning out to easily be the most significant.”

Dart is one of several young quarterbacks to suffer an injury in Week 2, with Chicago Bears star Caleb Williams and Washington Commanders signal-caller Jayden Daniels also going down.
Unfortunately, it appears that Dart may have the most costly injury.
Williams suffered a strained hamstring, while Daniels dislocated his elbow for the second straight season. The exact nature of Dart’s injury has not been shared at this time, but it’s clear the Giants are prepping for the worst.
In Dart’s absence on Monday night, backup quarterback Jameis Winston had a disaster of a performance, completing just 40.7 percent of his 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception in the Giants’ 28-6 loss.
