Dallas Mavericks fans have plenty to be excited about as young star Cooper Flagg prepares to enter his sophomore season in the NBA.
Throughout the summer, there has been growing buzz on social media suggesting that Flagg may have added a couple of inches to his height ahead of the new campaign.
Flagg is currently listed at 6-foot-9, and although his longtime trainer Matt MacKenzie could not confirm whether he has grown, he delivered a confident take on just how dangerous the reigning Rookie of the Year could be this season.
"I haven't put a measuring tape next to him, so I can't confirm or deny if he's grown in height. All I can say is he's had one hell of an offseason. And no matter if he's 6-9, 6-10 or 6-11, he's going to be a problem," MacKenzie told NBA insider Marc Stein.
Flagg coming off historic rookie season
Cooper Flagg was named the 2025-26 NBA Rookie of the Year after an outstanding debut season that lived up to – and in many ways exceeded – the massive expectations surrounding him.
Flagg's rookie campaign was so impressive that he joined Michael Jordan in an exclusive piece of NBA history.
He became only the second rookie since steals were first officially recorded in 1973-74 to lead his team in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals, joining Jordan.
Flagg averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals across 70 appearances for the Mavericks.
He also became the second-youngest Kia NBA Rookie of the Year winner in league history, trailing only LeBron James. James won the award at 19 years and 127 days.
