NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A new 600-room hotel planned next to the new Nissan Stadium will not be open in time for Nashville’s 2030 Super Bowl, the East Bank Development Authority Board of Directors learned during a meeting Tuesday.
Adding a new hotel had been part of the plan for the East Bank development.
Brian Reames, a member of the East Bank Development Authority Board of Directors, asked what Metro could do to help execute a timetable to meet the Super Bowl deadline.
The options presented include continuing the project while minimizing construction blight during game day, focusing on a garage first to accommodate parking, or delaying the project until after the Super Bowl to avoid a live construction site.
“We don’t think there’s anything that risk reward will get this done that we’re comfortable with,” said Michael Fallon, the Chief Executive Officer with Fallon Company.
Developers with Fallon Company said construction is slated to begin around July 2027. The biggest holdup has been completing the design of the project.
“Getting it open and getting it wrong would be a huge mistake on our part. It’s too much of a risk financially for us to take that challenge,” said Joseph F. Fallon, the chairman of Fallon Company.
Current plans call for construction to begin around July of 2027 with the hotel opening in the summer of 2030. Developers say that has always been the plan.

“We weren’t aware that the 2030 Super Bowl was going to happen pretty much until it happened,” said Michael Fallon.
Lauren Morales, owner of Acme Feed and Seed, said Nashville has already proven it can handle big crowds and isn’t worried about the new hotel not being ready.
“The good news is I feel like we already have a lot of great hotels that already exist so hopefully we can figure that out and hopefully it won’t be too much of a construction zone around there,” Morales said.
Nashville’s Downtown Partnership hotel directory shows there are around 67 lodging properties downtown with approximately 14,100 rooms. The Super Bowl is expected to bring 500,000 people to the area.
Brian Looney is visiting from Ohio and plans to attend the 2030 Super Bowl. He says he’ll be making his arrangements early to make sure he has a place to stay.
“I think people are going to be looking for people that they know. If they have a friend or a relative, they’re going to stay with them because I think this place is going to be a mad house. Nashville is going to sell out,” Looney said.
The Board of Directors is still deciding what the next move will be to push the project forward. Their next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27.
