Caleb Williams, Superrman
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams faces an uncertain Week 3 status after suffering a right hamstring injury during Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Ben Johnson labeled Williams week-to-week Monday and said he does not expect the third-year quarterback to practice this week, though the Bears have not officially ruled him out against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Bears’ quarterback situation grew more complicated Tuesday when backup Tyson Bagent entered the NFL’s concussion protocol.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday and shared a clip from his SportsCenter appearance discussing Chicago’s developing quarterback situation ahead of Week 3.
“Caleb Williams is not expected to practice this week, which does not bode well for his availability Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. I would go so far as to say he is unlikely to play.”

Williams injured his hamstring while scrambling on first-and-goal from the Minnesota 6-yard line during the fourth quarter Sunday. He finished 15 of 26 for 138 yards with one interception and rushed five times for 42 yards before leaving. The injury ended a streak of 36 consecutive starts since Chicago selected him No. 1 overall in 2024.
Bagent replaced Williams and completed 5 of 9 passes for 54 yards, but his concussion diagnosis now puts his availability against Philadelphia in question. If neither quarterback receives clearance, 38-year-old Case Keenum would become the Bears' next option. Keenum sits third on the Bears’ depth chart and has not appeared in a regular-season game since 2023.
Chicago enters the matchup 1-1 after scoring only three points against Minnesota, while the Eagles come to Soldier Field at 2-0. Williams remains available for now, while Bagent must clear concussion protocol before he can play Monday.
