‘Way Better Without You’ — Ex NFL WR Drops Blunt Reality Check to Kevin Stefanski After Browns’ Week 2 Success 1
Kevin Stefanski, the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach, spent six seasons coaching the Cleveland Browns before being fired in January 2026. Stefanski was looking for a fresh start after becoming the Falcons’ new head coach, but his difficult beginning in Atlanta has already opened the door to sharp criticism.

During a recent episode of Speakeasy, T.J. Houshmandzadeh delivered a brutal message to Stefanski after watching his former team, the Cleveland Browns, secure an impressive Week 2 victory.
“I believe, Stefanski, you’re an offensive guy, and your teams can’t do crap. You just left a team in the Cleveland Browns, and Deshaun Watson looks better without you. Way better without you. Talk about it.
“Way better without you. You may be the reason why Deshaun Watson was looking the way he was looking. That little weakoffense you got. Uh-oh. So now, what are you going to do? Because Michael Penix was showing—he showed some promise last year. Your quarterbacks and your offense this year have been terrible.
“You have, from an overall running back, tight end and receiver standpoint, one of the top three—I would say top five—combinations of triplets in the league. But if you can’t do anything offensively, they’ve got to get rid of this dude. They’ve got to get rid of this dude in Year 1.
“Year 1. Because he was Coach of the Year and led them to the playoffs. Was it really him, or was it Baker? Hello. Was it really him, or was it Baker? At some point, you can’t live off that one season and the Coach of the Year award.
“Because I just saw Deshaun Watson yesterday throwing dimes, and he looked pretty good. He looked pretty good. Now, I watched your offense, and granted, Cooper Rush is the quarterback. But peep it: Didn’t Cooper Rush win games when he was with the Cowboys? He did. All right, I’m done.”

The Cleveland Browns delivered an impressive performance under head coach Todd Monken, with quarterback Deshaun Watson throwing for 238 yards and two touchdowns in their 23-19 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Atlanta, meanwhile, produced one of the worst performances of Week 2, suffering a humiliating 34-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The contrast between the two teams has made Stefanski’s situation even more uncomfortable. Cleveland responded to its season-opening defeat by showing composure and making crucial plays late in the game.
Atlanta, however, looked unprepared and committed five turnovers while failing to reach the red zone. Although injuries at quarterback have limited Stefanski’s options, the Falcons still possess talented weapons, including Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and Drake London.
That talent will only increase expectations. Stefanski now faces immediate pressure to improve the offense and prove that Cleveland’s decision to choose Stefanski was correct.
