Kevin Durant reveals that he disagrees with the Rockets' coach and GM about his minutes image
Kevin Durant has cemented his status as one of the Houston Rockets' best players. He is a legend of the game, especially since he will be 38 at the start of the season and still firing on all cylinders. However, it seems the Rockets want to manage his minutes so his body won't struggle.
Durant himself would disagree with that because he knows his body, and he knows what he is capable of. With head coach Ime Udoka and general manager Rafael Stone making decisions, it seems that Durant is, at the very least, disagreeing with their choices.

In the 2025-26 season, Durant had a fantastic year with averages of 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Considering he was 37 for most of the campaign, Durant was quite impressive.
Ahead of the 2026-27 season, it is fair for both Udoka and Stone to make a conscious decision regarding how they manage Durant. He is a fantastic player, but age is a big deal in the NBA because it is natural for his body to struggle at times.

The Rockets want an assurance that they can compete at the highest level for a long while. Considering they have to be competitive for the postseason, helping Durant stay as healthy as possible is a big deal.
"I'm better on the court. The team is better when I'm on the court. That's what I'm supposed to be training for: to play the long haul, 48 minutes a night. If the game needs me to be out there, I wanna be out there," Durant said about his minutes during the Rockets' media day.
Durant has all the tools to remain a difference-maker. However, he wants to strike the right balance between himself and the team because he wants to contribute as much as possible, but the team wants to manage him in the best way possible as well.
