Liverpool has some time to reflect on what has been a decent start to the season as the international break takes center stage - but there are issues that need addressing.
Andoni Iraola remains unbeaten since taking charge, and there have been some signs of the Spaniard’s influence taking effect on his squad. Performances have been mixed, though, and Sunday’s win over Bournemouth was just the second in the Premier League so far.
The Reds’ boss will be hoping he can see more improvements when his players return next month, but he may already have one eye on the next transfer window in January.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Aleksandar Stankovic (Inter Milan)
Liverpool tried to negotiate a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
It’s claimed that while negotiations were ongoing for Curtis Jones’ move to the San Siro, the Reds tried to strike a deal for Stankovic to move in the opposite direction, while an offer of around $46 million (€40M) is said to have been turned down from Brentford.
It's suggested that Inter wanted to strike an alternative solution, such as a loan deal for the 21-year-old. Stankovic rejoined the Serie A champion from Club Brugge in the summer, but has only made two appearances off the bench since then.

Liverpool.com says: Stankovic is more of a natural defensive midfielder, which is what Liverpool could do with right now, and being still young at 21 would no doubt be very attractive to the club.
It would have been an odd deal to strike, considering he'd only made the move back to Inter in the summer. It'll be interesting to see whether he gets any more opportunities at the San Siro.
Givairo Read (Feyenoord)
Liverpool is keeping a close eye on Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, according to TeamTalk, although it could face competition from Arsenal and Manchester City for his signature.
The 20-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield during Arne Slot’s spell in charge, and the Reds’ interest has supposedly been maintained despite the Dutchman’s departure in the summer.

Liverpool is said to have continued to monitor his progress after Nottingham Forest is claimed to have made a bid for him during the most recent window, with Everton also being linked. The report also suggests that Arsenal and City are keeping an eye on Read as the season goes on.
Liverpool.com says: Read has made an impressive start to the season in the Eredivisie, having recorded five assists in seven appearances already, so it’s easy to see why he might be attracting interest.
Even with Conor Bradley potentially returning in November, Liverpool should be looking at signing a new right-back. Jeremie Frimpong hasn’t really worked in the position, and it would be a gamble relying on Bradley to maintain his fitness, given his injury record.
