After the Los Angeles Clippers named lawyer John Gibson as their interim governor and CEO, following Steve Ballmer's suspension, the lawyer has shared a message with the team's fans in a video on YouTube.
He started the video with describing the situation as an important moment in the club's history, highlighting that they will need to work closely with the NBA to regain theirs and the fans' trust.
Gibson also cleared up the situation with the front office, naming the new interim president of basketball operations and GM of the team.
"I have appointed Trent [Redden] to serve as interim president of basketball operations while Lawrence Frank is away from the team. And I have appointed Mark Hughes to serve as interim general manager."
Gibson addressed the coach's and players' situations
Gibson addressed the role of Ty Lue in the team, who has been the head coach of the Clippers since 2020.
"Ty Lue remains our head coach and we have complete confidence in his leadership," he said.
"Ty has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to overcome adversity, unite teams, and inspire players to perform at their best. His leadership will be instrumental as we move forward."
Gibson also acknowledged the Kawhi Leonard trade and other offseason moves.
"We've also completed our trade with Toronto. We thank Kawhi for his contributions on the court and wish him well. At the same time, we are excited to welcome Brandon Ingram along with offseason additions Gradey Dick, Rui Hachimura, and Max Strus," he said.
"They join a talented core that includes Darius Garland, Kris Dunn, Derrick Jones Jr., Brook Lopez, Kobe Sanders, Isaiah Jackson, and Keaton Wagler, whom we were thrilled to select in this year's draft."
