Maresca worry – Crucial Manchester City star out of NT with ankle injury

Manchester City‘s Antoine Semenyo has suffered an injury blow, forcing him to miss Ghana’s crucial fixtures during the ongoing international break.

The winger joined the Premier League side from AFC Bournemouth and has enjoyed a good run.

He managed 11 goals and three assists from 27 matches for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Enzo Maresca replaced the latter in the summer, and Semenyo has started seven matches. He was an unused substitute in the EFL Cup win over Norwich City.

The Ghana international has scored two goals and contributed three assists this season.

Concern over Manchester City player’s injury

Last weekend, he played the full 90 minutes, scoring a brace and contributing an assist in the Citizens’ 5-3 win over Sunderland.

Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz initially included the 26-year-old in his squad for the three fixtures. However, the former Manchester United assistant coach won’t be able to rely upon him.

3 News report Antoine Semenyo has withdrawn from the squad after ‘suffering a swollen ankle’.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered a report from Ghana explaining that Tottenham Hotspur’s Mohammed Kudus decided to withdraw from the squad.

Semenyo now joins the list, and his absence is a major blow for the Black Stars. Queiroz, who is already dealing with multiple injuries, has to find a solution.

There’s no update on the timeline of recovery. Enzo Maresca will be hoping he’s available when Manchester City face Liverpool on October 11th.
