Bruno Guimaraes has made it clear he would like to play in his homeland of Brazil one day - but not until he has one titles with Arsenal.

‌

‌

Guimaraes named the two sides he'd be interested in playing for, stating: "Yes, I would like to return to Brazil, to play for Vasco [da Gama] or Athletico [Paranaense], teams I have a lot of gratitude for.

‌

The 28-year-old previously played for Athletico Paranaense prior to moving to Europe in 2020 when he joined Lyon. However, he grew up a Vasco supporter and actually attended one of their matches in the summer, prior to completing his move to the Premier League champions.

He started his first top-flight match for Arsenal last Saturday but struggled in the 3-0 defeat at Brighton. Both he and Gabriel Magalhaes were then hit but travel chaos as they jetted Down Under to join up with the Brazil squad in Australia.

Just as the plan was due to land in Brisbane, it was diverted to Sydney due to poor weather conditions. It was no problem for Guimaraes though, who still joined the rest of his international colleagues on the training pitch for a light session once he finally touched down in the Gold Coast.

During the press conference, the combative midfielder also opened up on what's it's been like to start such a big new chapter with Arsenal following his high-profile Newcastle exit.

He explained: "Newcastle is a club where I have a very beautiful history. I was the first captain to win a title there after 70 years, along with my teammates, so we made our mark on the club's history.

"I had already been at the club for almost 5 years, I felt inside that I needed a new challenge, I was ready for it, and I am very grateful to the club for everything it has given me.

"Now, starting my journey at Arsenal, starting well, starting on the right foot. A new responsibility, which I really wanted to take on. I have to focus, because leaving a routine that I was already used to at the club and starting another one requires a little time, a little adaptation, but I think I'm doing well. I am very happy and excited about the new challenges.
