Everton transport talks could bring new matchday buses and shuttle services

**New matchday bus and shuttle services are being considered to improve how [Everton](https://readeverton.com/) supporters travel to and from the Hill Dickinson.**

The proposals were raised during talks between Everton’s Fan Advisory Board, Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram, Merseyrail, local authority representatives and the club. The meeting followed concerns from supporters about matchday transport, particularly at Sandhills station.

One idea is to run buses or express shuttles connecting supporters with other railway stations and transport hubs.

Bank Hall, Kirkdale, Liverpool Lime Street and Hamilton Square were all discussed, along with park-and-ride facilities and possible services for areas not well covered by the current matchday network.

The meeting came after 656 supporters responded to a Fan Advisory Board transport survey. Around half described their experience at Sandhills as poor and approximately 30 per cent said they had felt vulnerable or unsafe when travelling on a matchday.

Merseyrail also explained why simply putting on more trains is difficult. Around 20,000 matchday rail journeys currently pass through Sandhills for Everton home games, but existing signalling infrastructure restricts the number of services that can operate.

More than £6m has already been invested at Sandhills. Further improvements include extending the queuing area and introducing toilet facilities, while better information during disruption and clearer directions towards other transport options were also discussed.

No new bus or shuttle service has been agreed yet. The next stage will include further work on those possibilities and alternative transport hubs, with the FAB, Everton, transport providers and local authorities also backing quarterly meetings.
