Jarrad Branthwaite has thanked Everton for helping him return to the England squad following the work done on his fitness during the summer.
The centre-back is back at St George’s Park after being selected by Thomas Tuchel for England’s four Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia and Croatia. It is his first senior call-up under Tuchel.
Branthwaite praises Everton for summer support
Speaking after joining up with England, Branthwaite said:
“To be called up by England means everything. All of the hard work and rehab has made it worthwhile. I’m buzzing to be back in the set-up.”
The 24-year-old also credited Everton for the work carried out during the summer.
“The Club did a really good job with me over the summer to put me in the best possible position.”
Branthwaite spent several weeks in Germany during the close season as part of a specialist rehabilitation programme designed to find answers to the injury problems that had disrupted his previous campaign. The work included analysis of his movement patterns and other factors contributing to his recurring problems.
He has since started all five of Everton’s Premier League games this season after being restricted to only 10 league appearances in 2025/26.
Branthwaite has one senior England cap, won against Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2024. His latest call-up gives him the chance to add to that more than two years later.
His comments come after he also praised Everton teammate Jordan Pickford at St George’s Park, saying the goalkeeper “probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves“.
