‘Too Early’ ‘Can Be Bought For £35M Easily’ Liverpool Fans Discuss Potential £47M Transfer Raid
Liverpool defender Ronald Araujo has looked very impressive since he arrived on loan from Barcelona.
There were doubts about both his fitness and consistency following his move to Anfield, but the Reds have yet to concede in the Premier League when the Uruguayan has been named in the starting lineup.
Araujo’s loan does have an option to buy worth €55m (£47m), and while fans on X are happy with the 27-year-old’s performances, most feel the club should wait a bit longer before triggering the purchase clause:
Too early. Wouldn't make any calls until January.

Too early to tell. He’s at RB. Can’t judge him at CB just yet.

Not at that sum. Maybe 30+m at most.

£47M is a lot to splash out on Araujo
It should not be forgotten that the centre-half has a history of muscular injuries. A hamstring problem kept him on the sidelines for nearly five months a couple of seasons ago.
Combined with the fact that Araujo will turn 28 in March, you do wonder whether he is worth the investment, especially as he also takes home a wage in excess of £200,000 a week.
As most supporters suggest, the best course of action will be to wait and see how he performs over the coming months, and make a decision closer to the end of the campaign when a more informed judgement can be made.
Liverpool may have to replace van Dijk
Another factor to keep in mind is Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation. The captain’s current deal expires in June, and it remains to be seen if he signs another extension.
You wouldn’t rule out the 35-year-old putting pen to paper on a fresh one-year contract, but the recruitment team will still need to be thinking about a potential long-term replacement.
Araujo wouldn’t be that player considering his age, but if he continues to impress, even when playing out of position at right-back, he could be considered as a stop-gap solution.
