Odell Beckham Jr. lamented Jaxson Dart’s injury amid news the quarterback could miss the rest of the 2026 season.
Dart exited the 28-6 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football after taking a brutal hit to the leg, which forced ESPN to halt its coverage. Jameis Winston replaced him, but the New York Giants struggled on offense without their star sophomore quarterback.
Despite trying to convince the medical staff otherwise, Dart was denied reentry to the field because his injury was deemed too risky. Upon further testing, the Giants and Dart are now preparing for the worst this season, and he is set to undergo surgery that will end his campaign.
After initial hopes suggested Dart may miss up to six weeks, he is now set be sidelined for longer. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Dart will undergo season-ending surgery that will ensure a full recovery even as his ACL is intact.
For Beckham Jr., who suffered a knee injury himself in Super Bowl LVI, he expressed sadness over the turn of events. “Prayers up for my brother 6,” Beckham Jr. wrote on X. “Seeing the news is one thing but it’s harder until u actually see it.”
The injury occurred when the Giants faced a third-and-eight scenario against the Rams. Dart dropped back and found tight end Theo Johnson, but he was sandwiched by linebacker Byron Young and pass rusher Josaiah Stewart.
The impact forced Dart’s leg to bend awkwardly, and the 23-year-old collapsed to the turf clutching his knee. Trainers jogged onto the field to tend to the young quarterback, while ESPN immediately cut to a commercial break and didn't instantly show a replay.

Dart spent considerable time in the blue medical tent, and on the Giants' next drive, Winston led the offense. Dart reportedly fought to be reinstated in the game, but his request was blocked.
Dart had completed just 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards when suffering his injury, and Winston failed to inspire any success off the bench. Winston finished the game with 11 of 27 completed passes for 111 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions against the Rams.
Dart starred in Week 1, but the Giants may once again be preparing for another disrupted season. Big Blue has suffered numerous injuries in recent years, with Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, Andrew Thomas, Daniel Jones, and Saquon Barkley all suffering serious injuries over the last few seasons.
But this injury will sting particularly badly. The quarterback position has been a major problem for the Giants, as Eli Manning was the last starter to complete all regular-season games back in 2018 - and Dart’s fine play when on the field has sparked hopes that the NFC East franchise can finally hope to contend again.
On Tuesday, Harbaugh held a conference and provided an injury update on Dart. He told reporters: “Right now, evaluations are ongoing. We haven't got any final decisions yet... we've learned a lot more. I wouldn't want to share too much until decisions get made.
“That takes more than one person; it takes everybody involved. When we know what direction we will have to go, whatever that may be, we will announce that. But we don't have that yet.”
The 1-1 Giants are next in action against the 0-2 Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, September 27.
