The Golden State Warriors will be getting ramped up for the season soon, but there looks to be unfinished business with their franchise player. Stephen Curry is eligible for an extension, but nothing has gotten done as training camp is set to begin in almost a week.
For Curry, there isn't a rush on his side, and he also isn't going to let it affect the team as they head into the season, according to ESPN's Anthony Slater.
“I don't want there to be no drama,” Curry said. “No talking points. This team should be competitive and go win.”
Curry is eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million extension, but the team has also offered him different options, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. He could take the full extension, take a smaller amount of money, or wait to make a decision. As of now, it's uncertain what Curry is thinking, but he's going to make the choice when he feels it's the right moment.

“It's going to happen at the right time, once I have all the information I need to make the decision that is right,” Curry said. “The team's been great having that conversation back and forth. If I don't sign, it won't affect me in terms of my play or carrying that weight. But I'll make the decision when I'm ready.”
The Warriors know that Curry isn't planning on going anywhere else, and Curry has made it known that he wants to be with the team until the end of his career. He also wants to continue to stay competitive, and that may mean taking a pay cut is in the best interest of him and the team.
“It's just a very unique situation all the way around based on where we've been the last four years, where I'm at in my career, what our team looks like this year and the absolute desperation to win. Trying to balance all that,” Curry said.
