NFL analyst poses ridiculous Colin Kaepernick solution to Giants' Jaxson Dart injury image
The New York Giants got some awful news after Week 2, as Jaxson Dart, their young ascending star quarterback, is headed for surgery that'll end his season.
With the Giants down their starting quarterback, Jameis Winston is set to be the starter moving forward. But adding some depth would make sense. They could explore the trade market or take a gander at their free agent options.
NFL analyst Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk recently posed a ridiculous idea for the Giants, one that would involve bringing in Colin Kaepernick. This is a completely ridiculous idea that should never even be considered.

"John Harbaugh very recently spoke about his desire to sign Colin Kaepernick in 2017," Florio writes. "Now that Harbaugh has lost his starting QB -- possibly for the rest of the season -- will Harbaugh give Kaepernick a workout?"
While the Giants should be looking to add to their quarterback room, Kaepernick might be one of the worst possible additions they could make.
The reason is very, very simple: Kaepernick hasn't played since 2016. That's 10 years that Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL.
Phillip Rivers came out of retirement for the Indianapolis Colts in 2025 after four years away from the NFL. That was seen as a crazy decision for the Colts and Rivers.
Eli Manning retired after the 2019 season. The Giants legend played more recently than Kaepernick, someone that Florio posed as a possible solution for the Giants following Dart's season-ending injury.

Kaepernick coming back and backing up Winston in New York would be a horrible idea. He hasn't played in the NFL in a decade, and even when he did play, his last season was far from ideal.
Kaepernick went 1-10 in his final 11 starts in the NFL, throwing for a 59.2 completion percentage with 2,241 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Those aren't horrible numbers, but those came a decade ago, which was his last NFL experience. There is absolutely no reason the Giants, or any team, should have interest in Kaepernick.
He's 38 years old now and is a decade removed from playing in the NFL. He would not be a solution to the Giants' quarterback room after Dart's injury.
Even though there is a Harbaugh connection, the Giants are more likely to explore just about any other quarterback option before Kaepernick. This is a ridiculous proposition from Florio.
