Manager's mic drop moment could see Premier League club return to Europe

UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League trophies.

Everton have been predicted to finish in a European position despite only having 18 outfield squad players.

David Moyes' side are only one of fives to remain unbeaten in the Premier League since the beginning of the season.

The Toffees have had two wins and three draws from their first month of the campaign.

However, Evertonians will not be getting their hopes up following the anti-climax and downfall of recent years.

Everton were sat three points off a Champions League place but the season ended painfully as they went on to not win any of their final seven games.

Evertonfinished 13th, four points behindBrighton, who qualified for the Conference League, and five offSunderland, who joinedBournemouthandCrystal Palacein the Europa League.

On the 'No BS' podcast, Max Scott said: "I'm giving Everton an A grade and I'm giving the board a D. Moyes is an A for what went well, but it would be even better if the board got their act together.

"That's the reality. What I love about Everton so far this season is that it is a case in point as to why David Moyes is still a top-tier manager.

"I don't care that some Evertonians don't quite like him or West Ham fans, I don't care what they think about his brand of football."

Everton's strong start, which also include two Carabao Cup victories, had been based on a solid defence.

Moyes' side have kept five clean sheets in seven matches overall and got the three points in their last match Ipswich with a 1-0 win.

Fury at board from Toffees fans

Despite a great start, Evertonians are experiencing a deep frustration against their owners, The Friedkin Group.

Everton fans have been hesitant on whether Moyes can help the team progress

The Toffees released a portrait image of their squad for the season and it featured only 18 outfield players alongside only three goalkeepers, sparking concerns they'll lack resources as the season progresses.

Fans and the Everton Fans' Forum slammed the club’s recruitment after TFG pocketed over £100 million on deadline day.

They sold star player Iliman Ndiaye, top scorer Beto, Tim Iroegbunam, and Nathan Patterson, while a deal for Folarin Balogun collapsed.

Additionally, owner Dan Friedkin has faced fierce criticism for never attending a match or visiting Liverpool since completing the takeover in December 2024.

To make matters worse, the hierarchy had to call off a proposed £40million deal to sell midfielder and academy ace Harrison Armstrong following a backlash from the club's fans.

Supporters sang Armstrong's name throughout a draw at Bournemouth in August and said there would be a 'riot' if their brightest prospect was sold.

Everton tipped for Europe despite setbacks

Scott added: "They are unbeaten in a Premier League, which so far has been uber competitive, with only a squad of 18 players.

"With the disappointment of the transfer window, with the whole Harrison Armstrong debacle, Moyes picked Armstrong, essentially put up two fingers to the board and then revved up the fans who started singing and they kept him at the football club.

"This is why you should never sleep on David Moyes. Never underestimate him. And I said at the start of the season, my prediction was that they'd get some form of European football.

"And despite all of the odds and all of the bad decisions from the club, they're on for that. I mean, I'm looking at the table now, they're seventh.

"They're ahead of Chelsea and all the multi-millions they've spent, ahead of United, ahead of Tottenham. I mean, I think they're a great example of if you've got the right manager, then you will go places."

Olly Clink responded: "Yeah, well-organized, hardworking, battle-hardened...

"And you mentioned that game against Bournemouth where he picked Harrison Armstrong. And it was after that game in the post-match press conference where he says, 'the fans know they've got an Evertonian as the manager.'

Scott added: "Yeah, it's like a mic drop moment."
