Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant said he is not thinking about retirement or whether Houston could eventually become the final stop of his NBA career.
Asked at Rockets media day if he had considered retiring with the franchise, Durant made it clear he is focused only on the present.
"No, I'm not thinking about anything like that," KD said. "I've enjoyed coming to work every day. It's been fun going through the process with everybody. Like I said, I'm taking it a day at a time. That's the most I can do.
"Who knows what will happen down the line or in the future? But right now, I enjoy showing up for work."
Durant is entering his 20th NBA season after a strong first year in Houston, where he served as both a primary scoring option and an experienced veteran leader for a young roster looking to make noise in the Western Conference.
He averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 52% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc, earning All-NBA Second Team honors.

Kevin Durant's contract situation
The 38-year-old is under contract for the 2026-27 season and will earn $43.9 million as part of his two-year, $90 million deal. He also holds a $46.1 million player option for 2027-28.
Durant is eligible for an extension with Houston, but no long-term agreement has been reached yet.
The veteran superstar began his NBA career with the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder before stints with the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and now the Rockets.
