Plenty of Everton fans were left raging at the end of last month, when it looked like Harrison Armstrong could leave the club.
Everton agreed a £40 million deal with Nottingham Forest for the midfielder’s transfer, with that news breaking just hours before the Toffees’ game against Bournemouth.
Everton ended up drawing that game and afterwards, fans chanted about Armstrong, urging the club to keep him.
The following day, it was reported that The Friedkin Group had done a U-turn. Armstrong, who’d been pencilled in for a medical at Forest, was staying.
And so far, his performances have been excellent – and actually, another reason is emerging why keeping him was so important.
Harrison Armstrong staying at Everton will help Tyler Dibling
Not only is Armstrong obviously a talented player with huge potential, he also seems to have a nice bond with Tyler Dibling.
As we know, Dibling has found it tough to get minutes at Everton since his £40 million move in the summer of 2025.
There have long been suggestions that he just didn’t quite settle, and he barely featured in the end.
This season, though, there have been promising signs in the early stages of the season. Dibling has now made three appearances, with two of those being starts in the Carabao Cup. And encouragingly, Dibling stated last week that he now feels settled.
And it looks like Armstrong may well have helped his fellow youngster to feel a bit more at ease.
Today, Everton uploaded a couple of wholesome photos of the pair, captioning their post ‘Blues brothers’. The pictures were taken at the weekend ahead of the Ipswich Town game.
This post came after Everton uploaded video clips of the pair choosing each other’s favourite things as their specialist subject, as part of a Mastermind-style ongoing series. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the only other player to have participated, with his subject being the Harry Potter films.
Armstrong scored 10, and Dibling got 14 correct answers. The video clips clearly suggest that they have a close friendship.
Everton fans have such high hopes for Dibling, and thankfully we are now starting to see him come out of his shell a bit more. He looked full of confidence as the game went on against Wolves, and when he came on against Ipswich.
Armstrong being a similar age to Dibling was likely always going to mean they would bond, and hopefully both of these players will soon be big players for the first-team, as well as the other brilliant English youngster in the Toffees squad, Tyrique George.
