Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has sent a clear message ahead of the 2026-27 season, saying he will not be satisfied until he helps bring another championship to the franchise.
"I'm a Laker now," Doncic stated. "I'm not sure that I ever could have imagined being here and wearing the purple and gold. It's a wonderful surprise, and it feels amazing, and now I desperately want what all Lakers want: To win it all."
"I won't rest until we win more championships," he added.
While Doncic has traditionally preferred to let his performances speak for him, he made it clear to Lakers fans how motivated he is entering the new campaign.
"I used to let my game do most of the talking, but I want Lakers fans to know that I am ready, excited, and eager to deliver. So ready," Doncic noted. "This is a city that is used to winning and winning big. I am so honored and grateful that I get the chance now to write my own championship chapters."
Doncic coming off dominant but injury-hit season
Luka averaged a league-leading 33.5 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds in 64 games during the 2025-26 regular season, shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.6% from three-point range.
His season, however, ended prematurely after he suffered a Grade 2 left hamstring strain on April 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The injury sidelined him for the Lakers' final five regular-season games and their entire playoff run.
Los Angeles advanced past the Houston Rockets in the first round without Doncic before being swept by Oklahoma City in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Despite the injury, Luka was named to the All-NBA First Team for the sixth time in his career.
