Here’s what Andy Reid said regarding injured Chiefs heading into Dolphins week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Several key members of the Kansas City Chiefs roster have had lingering injury statuses since training camp.

On Wednesday -- as the Chiefs prepare for their first road test of the season -- head coach Andy Reid provided injury updates on those members, including left tackle Josh Simmons, safety Chamarri Conner and cornerback Mansoor Delane.

“Josh Simmons won’t practice today,” Reid said as Simmons continues to recover from a back injury that started during training camp. “He is getting better, but he won’t go today.”

Safety Chamarri Conner participated in Wednesday’s practice in a limited capacity as he deals with a knee injury that also caused him to miss time at training camp.

“We’ll ease him back into the mix,” Reid said.

Wednesday afternoon, the Chiefs released their first injury report for Sunday’s matchup with the Dolphins. In it, they listed Chris Jones (calf), L’Jarius Sneed (knee), Felix Anudike-Uzomah (thigh) and the aforementioned Conner as limited participants.

Cornerback Mansoor Delane was a full participant on Wednesday, according to the Chiefs. Delane, who exited Week 1’s win over the Denver Broncos with a shoulder injury, was active but didn’t participate in any defensive snaps in Week 2.

“I’d tell you yes,” Reid said when asked if Delane could be a full-go this week.

Second-year defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, who began the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List, is doing more work, Reid said, as he recovers from a torn ACL. Reid said Norman-Lott could have his practice window opened around the bye week, which for the Chiefs is Week 5.

Kansas City plays the Miami Dolphins Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. You can watch the game live on KCTV.
