Free agent forward Kevin Knox II will sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Magic and take part in training camp, a league source tells Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link).
Knox, 27, has seven years of NBA experience, but he spent last season with the Windy City Bulls, Chicago’s G League affiliate. He appeared in 26 games, all starts, and averaged 22.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 34.7 minutes per night.
Knox played his first three and a half NBA seasons with the Knicks, who selected him with the ninth pick in the 2018 draft. He was traded to the Hawks in January of 2022 and signed with the Pistons as a free agent in August of that year. He has bounced back and forth between the NBA and the G League since then, making brief stops with Portland, Detroit again and Golden State as well as spending time with the Rip City Remix and the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Because he has more than four years of NBA experience, Knox isn’t eligible for a two-way contract, but the Exhibit 10 deal gives him a chance to earn a bonus worth up to $91K if he gets waived and spends at least 60 days with Orlando’s G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic.
Also Wednesday, Orlando announced the signings of Ricky Council IV, Au’Diese Toney, Ace Baldwin Jr. and Jarron Cumberland. They all received Exhibit 10 deals and will be waived, a source tells Beede.
The Magic announced their roster for training camp, which starts Tuesday, Beede relays (Twitter link). It features 20 players, one below the offseason limit.
