**Thierno Barry’s goals are beginning to flow for [Everton](https://readeverton.com/), but one of the club’s best-known fan voices believes there is another reason why the striker is winning over supporters.**
Toffee TV’s Peter McPartland has highlighted Barry’s work rate after the Frenchman continued his excellent start to the season with the winner against Ipswich Town.
Barry’s decisive touch in the 1-0 victory at the Hill Dickinson was his fifth goal in seven appearances in all competitions this season, already closing in on the eight he managed throughout his first campaign with the Blues.
Speaking to BBC Sport Merseyside, McPartland summed up what Evertonians want to see from their players.
> “All you’ve got to do, as an Everton player for Evertonians, is run round and work hard, and I think people are seeing that.”
Barry is certainly giving them that, while the goals have followed. The 23-year-old endured some difficult spells during his first season in English football, but five goals in seven games this time around represents an encouraging start.
His latest proved decisive against Ipswich, while Barry also thought he had scored a second before the goal was ruled out following a VAR review.
David Moyes will want the goals to continue, but McPartland’s point goes beyond Barry’s numbers. There is an appreciation among Everton supporters for a centre-forward prepared to compete, chase and make life uncomfortable for defenders.
Barry is doing that and, increasingly, finding the net as well.
