Some players’ career paths are meticulously planned years in advance.
It was an open secret that Kylian Mbappe was destined for Real Madrid after leaving PSG, while Eberechi Eze was always very open about the fact he wanted to work his way back to Arsenal one day.
Meanwhile, a number of players want to finish their careers with their boyhood clubs.
Bruno Guimaraes may have only signed for Arsenal this summer, but it appears he may already have the next step of his career figured out.
Indeed, speaking in a press conference this week ahead of Brazil’s international games, Guimaraes made it clear that his next step may well be to return to Brazil with either Vasco Da Gama or Athletico Paranaense.

Bruno Guimaraes knows what his next move will be
Guimaraes spoke about his future plans after making a big-money transfer to Arsenal this summer.
The midfielder was very open about the fact that he wants to return to Brazil to join either Vasco Da Gama or his former club Athletico Paranaense.
Of course, at the age of 28 after just signing a big contract, these moves aren’t going to happen anytime soon, but it would appear that Guimaraes already knows what he wants next.
“I would like to return to Brazil, to play for Vasco [Da Gama] or Athletico [Paranaense], teams I have a lot of gratitude for,” Guimaraes said.
“But to be honest, I’m not thinking about that now. I just arrived at Arsenal, so I’m very focused.
Top Brazilian players often do finish their careers playing back in their home country.
The likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Marcelo and Fernandinho have all made similar moves back to their home nation to finish off their storied careers.
To be fair, with such an amazing lifestyle on offer, rampant fans and an incredible cultural connection to the sport, it would be hard to blame any Brazilian player for wanting to move back home to bookend their career.
