For the first time in the 2026 season, the Green Bay Packers will play on Thursday Night Football. Also for the first time this season, the Packers will play at home, hosting a game at Lambeau Field after back-to-back road games to start the year.
Coming in is a banged-up Atlanta Falcons squad that somehow has not yet entered the red zone through two games. Atlanta has scored just one touchdown in 120 minutes of football, a 23-yard run by Bijan Robinson, and three field goals (all from 40 yards or more). Those two performances came with Cooper Rush and Jack Strand at quarterback, however, while Michael Penix, Jr. will start for Atlanta on Thursday.
The midweek game also means that most Packers fans will need to fire up a streaming service to watch tonight’s game as well, with the primary broadcast rights belonging to Prime Video. This will be the first of four games this season that are shown exclusively on streaming services; the Packers will have another Thursday Night Football game on Prime in Week 8 (home vs. Panthers), then have a pair of holiday or holiday-adjacent games on Netflix: Wednesday of Thanksgiving Week (at Rams) and Christmas Day (at Bears).
Interestingly, this is the second straight season that finds the Packers hosting a Thursday game early in the season. Last season they did so in Week 2, when they defeated the Washington Commanders 27-18.
