A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that Everton owners The Friedkin Group were looking for new investment in the club.

TFG acquired the club in December 2024 and after an initial wave of excitement, the picture is now quite different.

Everton finished the 2026 transfer window in poor fashion, and a number of players were sold off. The squad has been left very short, and there have been murmurs that the Friedkins are not in this for the long haul.

With TFG now looking for new investment, fans have been waiting for potential new suitors to step forward.

Amanda Staveley is a name that has been mentioned, and a report has shared information on whether she might look to get involved.

An Amanda Staveley bid for Everton looks unlikely

The i Paper has reported that Amanda Staveley actually showed interest in buying Everton just before Farhad Moshiri sold the club to the Friedkins.

This, after she was first linked about 15 years ago.

Staveley got down to the last two, but ultimately ‘the patchwork of loans and financial obligations confronting them proved too risky and complex for PCP’. The Friedkins won out.

It looks to be unlikely that she will return to the table with her PCP consortium, with The i Paper adding: “While some in senior positions at the club believe interest remains, that was denied “emphatically” by PCP sources earlier this week.

“They believe that Everton’s owners – or advisors close to them – are engaged in a ‘fishing exercise’ to ascertain what interest there is in buying out TFG.”

Staveley could well be perfect for Everton, given the transformative impact she and her consortium made at Newcastle United before leaving in July 2024. But seemingly she is very carefully considering her next move as she looks to get back into football and for the moment Everton don’t appear to be a genuine option for her.

There are similarities between Everton now and Newcastle when Staveley acquired a stake. Many Toffees fans are desperate for someone to be at the helm who truly cares and wants to show genuine ambition. Someone to guide the club away from mediocrity and to pave the way for proper European pushes and potential trophy wins. So perhaps there may end up being a temptation for her to bid.

But right now, sadly, it seems nothing is on the cards.
