Chelsea stadium talks continue over Earl’s Court
Chelsea remain in “serious discussions” with the Earl’s Court Development Group over the land, according to fresh reporting on the stadium situation.
The report, citing Simon Phillips, claims ECDG has so far been unable to secure the commercial funding required to deliver its existing development plan despite securing planning approval.
Discussions with Chelsea are said to have continued throughout the summer.
A sale of the entire site has reportedly not been ruled out, although that would represent a significantly larger commitment than simply securing enough land for a stadium.
The existing Earl’s Court project is a vast mixed-use redevelopment covering homes, commercial space, cultural facilities and public areas, with the plans previously receiving approval from the relevant west London authorities.
There is no agreement confirming Chelsea will move to Earl’s Court.
