Arsenal boost as French journalist shares when Saliba could now return to action

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba could return to action for the Gunners in December, according to reliable French journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

The Emirates Stadium club have been without the Frenchman this season following an injury at the World Cup.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has had to pair a couple of defenders alongside Gabriel Magalhaes at the North London club this season.

The Gunners have only suffered one defeat in five Premier League games in 2026-27, but they could do with Saliba right now.

The 25-year-old suffered a back injury during France’s semi-final game against Spain in the World Cup.

Saliba has been managing back issues since last season, but could now be available before the end of the year if all goes well.

His recovery from his back fracture is ongoing and Arteta will be eager to have him back despite his current options at the back.

Cristhian Mosquera and summer signing Ezri Konsa have played alongside Gabriel for the majority of the games so far.

Marli Salmon has also got an opportunity to prove himself, playing all 90 minutes against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.

The likes of Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White can also play at centre-back if needed, and Arteta has quality squad depth in such a crucial position.

Konsa has been a great addition to the Gunners’ defence, and it will be interesting to see if he will drop to the bench when Saliba returns.
