If you thought this OKC Thunder organization had already reached its ceiling, Sam Presti is actively urging you to guess again.
During his annual preseason media availability presser, the storied executive made the excitingly bold proclamation that while Oklahoma City has certainly seen wildly incredible heights throughout its 25-year existence, the best version of this team "is out there somewhere in our future."
For the rest of the league, this should be taken as nothing short of terrifying.
After all, they've already been led by three separate MVP winners, currently have three established All-NBA stars leading the charge in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren, recorded the fourth-most wins in a single NBA season just two years ago, and took home their first Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2025.
To think they could get even better in the coming years is truly exhilerating for Thunder fans to ponder, and absolutely horrifying for the other 29 teams strewn across the league.
Even in this second apron era, Thunder have makings of a true dynasty
Despite the fact that the current CBA was implemented to create parity throughout the league when it comes to title contention, this Thunder team seemingly has all the tools necessary to overcome its restraints and become the game's next great dynasty.
As they're currently constructed, OKC has three two-way All-Stars in SGA, J-Dub, and Chet all under the age of 30 and locked into deals that will extend into the 2030s.
Surrounding them is a cast of ballers ranging from rising young bucks like Ajay Mitchell, Cason Wallace, and Jared McCain to discounted, battle-tested veterans such as Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso.
On top of this, OKC is also set to add several highly touted, recently selected first-round talents such as Thomas Sorber, Bennett Stirtz, and 2026 lottery pick Aday Mara to their reigning top-seeded rotation for the coming season, all of whom are attached to rookie-scale deals for the next several campaigns.
Add all of this to the fact that they still have a boatload of draft capital coming their way over the next several years thanks to Sam Presti's sensational wheeling and dealing ways, with one pick, in particular, potentially being in the running for a high-end lottery spot in next year's draft, and it makes Oklahoma City's architect's projection of future domination even stronger.
With the way they're set up, this ball club could very easily end up becoming a legitimate dynasty in an era that was purposely designed to prevent one.
