The Blazer’s Edge Best Things Ever Tournament for 2026 is winding into its final days. With today’s post, we’re three-quarters of the way through the Elite Eight round, heading quickly to a Final Four and the ultimate winner of the tourney for the year.

The pairing in this post is something of a surprise. Beer was expected to go deep into the bracket, especially in the Pacific Northwest, one of the homes of the homebrew/microbrew/craft beer revolution in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. But the expected titanic clash between Beer and Spouses was derailed as the Hubble Telescope edged out marital bliss by a few votes, continuing its Cinderella run through this tournament.
Therefore today’s post asks you to pick the best thing between **Beer** and the **Hubble Telescope**.
Beer is a social aid, a tasty beverage, and almost everybody’s first encounter with alcohol. It’s an acquired taste, but once you do acquire it, family gatherings, game nights, camping trips, beach getaways, and tailgate parties get a lot more fun. Whether you’re pounding back 20-packs with the frat boys or sampling esoteric concoctions with your learned friends (or even brewing something original in your own basement), beer is a staple of the American culture and palate.
There could not be a loftier contrast from the Hubble Telescope. One of the great achievements of our age, this orbital wonder has advance science and cosmology theory while providing absolutely spectacular pictures to all of us normal humans, illuminating the ethereal beauty of the vast universe we live in. Before Hubble, we used to think there were a fair number of galaxies in the cosmos. Once we pointed that thing at a dark patch of sky, we discovered that galaxies are pretty much like grains of sand. Life is way bigger than we imagined, apparently.
