Andoni Iraola nominated for first Premier League award as Liverpool head coach

Liverpool headed into the international break on the back of a 1-0 victory away at AFC Bournemouth, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season under Andoni Iraola.

Just five games into the 2026/27 Premier League season, the international break is upon us, with nations set to play four matches over the next two weeks.

Liverpool will return to action on Sunday, October 11, when they host league leaders Manchester City following a 21-day absence from competitive action.

The majority of Iraola’s squad have been called up by their respective nations, although a handful will remain at the club until domestic football resumes.

Iraola has also officially been nominated for the September Premier League Manager of the Month award after overseeing two victories and three clean sheets during the month.

The Liverpool head coach faces competition from Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Enzo Maresca (Manchester City).

Iraola has built a side that has proved difficult to break down, with Liverpool conceding no Premier League goals in September.

Their three matches produced two wins, against Ipswich Town and AFC Bournemouth, and a goalless draw with Fulham. You can vote for Iraola to win here.

Elsewhere, Alexander Isak and Jeremy Jacquet have been nominated for September’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

The Liverpool duo are joined on the shortlist by Mohamed Belloumi (Hull City), Jayden Bogle (Leeds United), Kevin Schade (Brentford), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City), and Brighton & Hove Albion pair Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas.

Isak netted three times in three league appearances during the month, while Jacquet was part of a Reds defence that did not concede. Voting for the award is now open here.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has also been nominated for the Premier League Save of the Month award. In the 18th minute of Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth, Alisson produced a superb reaction save to deny Evanilson and keep the game goalless. The save is one of six shortlisted for September’s award. Supporters can vote for the Brazilian to win here.
