Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers has named Brazilian icon Neymar as his third GOAT behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The England international became the most expensive British player this summer, joining the Blues in a £117 million move from Aston Villa.
Rogers spoke with Chelsea's in-house media on their CFC Unlocked platform and was asked to pick three GOATs. He chose Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo before adding Neymar to the list, praising the Brazilian for his skill on the football pitch.
“Neymar. There’s nothing he couldn’t do on the football pitch,” he said.
Santos ace Neymar is widely considered to be the third-best player of this generation, only behind Messi and Ronaldo. Still only 34, the forward has been very unlucky with injuries, many of which were caused by his flamboyant style of play.
Neymar played alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona, where they formed two-thirds of the feared MSN attacking triumvirate. He left Spain to play for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017 for a world-record €222 million transfer fee that still stands.
He left PSG in 2023 to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps, signing for Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, where he spent most of his two years at the club on the sidelines. His contract was terminated in 2025 after he made just seven appearances, and he signed for his boyhood club Santos.
While at Santos, Neymar managed to keep himself fit enough to earn a recall to the Brazil national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He played in the tournament for the Selecao before announcing his international retirement after their Round of 16 elimination.

Speaking on CFC Unlocked, Rogers revealed that his favourite player growing up was Cristiano Ronaldo, insinuating that he never paid much attention to Messi. He stated that playing against the Argentine superstar this summer opened his eyes to Messi's quality, even at 39.
