Kai Havertz has withdrawn from the Germany squad after suffering an injury during Thursday's UEFA Nations League clash against the Netherlands. Havertz will return to London, where he will undergo a scan at Arsenal's facilities to determine the extent of the suspected hamstring injury.
Germany drew the opening match of their 2026 Nations League campaign against their Dutch rivals, with Felix Nmecha having put Jurgen Klopp's side ahead in the first half. It looked as if Germany were going to record an opening-night win, only for Cody Gakpo to continue his impressive start to the season by equalising in added time.
There is an early optimism that the hamstring injury isn't serious and Havertz will be back up and running soon. But it wasn't the only injury worry for Klopp, given Jamal Musiala pulled up during the pre-match warm-up.
When asked about the pair's condition, the ex-Liverpool manager responded: "At the moment both are on the MRI (scans). I hope we get the diagnosis tonight. But of course that’s not great now. I hope this is just nothing bad. The boys are probably out for us. But hopefully then also relatively quickly available again.”
