Germany have confirmed that Kai Havertz has suffered a "muscle strain" after injuring his hamstring in Thursday evening's 1-1 Nations League draw against Holland in Amsterdam.
Havertz, alongside Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich, has now been sent home with the 27-year-old now poised to return to Arsenal where he will begin his recovery programme.
The DFB issued the following statement via Instagram on Friday morning: "Kai suffered a muscle strain yesterday and had to be substituted in the 30th minute.
"Jamal had already sustained a torn muscle fibre in his right thigh during warm-ups before the match. This was revealed by examinations late Thursday evening. Both will leave the national team squad early today. Get well soon!"

Germany boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed after his first match at the helm that both players were set to undergo MRI scans to determine the extent of the damage, telling broadcaster RTL: "Both are currently undergoing an MRI.
"I hope we get the diagnosis [on Thursday] evening. But of course, this isn't great. I hope it's nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they'll be back in action relatively quickly."
Liverpool attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Jonathan Burkardt have replaced Havertz and Musiala.
Havertz was only scheduled to face Holland and Greece (Germany's first two Nations League fixtures) before returning to his club, anyway.

However, there will now be concern over his fitness because if he is set for a lay-off, Viktor Gyokeres is now Mikel Arteta's only available striker following the summer sale of Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona.
Gyokeres is in Nations League action this evening for Sweden as they host Romania in Group H.
The Gunners return to action on October 10 when they host Leeds United in Premier League action at the Emirates Stadium.
The former Chelsea attacker has started the campaign in promising form too, netting twice in the top-flight and once in the 3-0 Community Shield demolition of Manchester City.
