Everton make big move for Burnley appeal case

**Everton are set to rehire a key figure in their Premier League points deduction case.**

Lawrence Rabinowitz represented the club in their successful appeal against a 10-point penalty for breaching the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules in 2021/22.

The man billed as a ‘super silk’ in legal circles made a compelling case against the Blues’ original sanction being disproportionate and saw it reduced to six points.

Despite PSR since being replaced by Squad Cost Ratio, David Moyes’ side were [hit with a £35 million compensation case by Burnley](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/everton-fc/65896-everton-lose-psr-dispute-to-former-rival/) as a result of the 2023 ruling.

The Championship outfit were the only team to pursue litigation with the panel which made the landmark 10-point ruling also presiding over their compensation case.

According to The Lawyer, that appeal will see Rabinowitz joining the club’s legal team alongside James Segan KC for a hearing schedule to take place in January.

Current owners The Friedkin Group have invested £38 million into Everton to cover the compensation fee despite their intentions to fight and win the appeal case.
